CURRENT JOB VACANCIES

Our FEA analyst is leaving… he’s going to be a hard person to replace. If you think you have got what it takes to play a major role in our company, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.

The Mechanical Design Engineer/FEA Analyst plays a pivotal role in the design team by utilising mechanical engineering experience and expertise to develop engineering designs for heavy transport engineering, structural plant design and other mechanical engineering equipment. The Mechanical Design Engineer will liaise directly with engineers, Project Managers and clients at all stages through the design process and will be capable of converting written and oral design requirements into functional design’s using 3D CAD and FEA software. The mechanical design engineer will also be able to assist draughtsmen in the development of fabrication drawings.

Principal Tasks:

• To meet and exceed our customer expectations for design.
• Provision of cost effective designs.
• To undertake mechanical designs for projects.
• Provision of cost and duration estimates of mechanical design for quotations.
• To complete engineering calculations and analysis to verify proposed mechanical designs meet functional, operational and safety requirements.
• To design mechanical & structural plant for a wide range of industry applications and mechanical engineering requirements.
• Finite element analysis (using Algor – Autodesk MPS)
• To manage the production of workshop drawings and documentation which comply with our Design Standards.
• To provide support/supervision to colleagues and contractors were applicable.
• To be able to keep up with new technology in industrial plant and mechanical design.
• Liaise with clients and staff on design issues.
• Willing to support the client’s workshop staff during manufacturing phase.
• Perform drawing and design checks on other designer’s drawings.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Tertiary qualified to Bachelor of Engineering – BE Mechanical, level.
• Experienced heavy transport and mechanical equipment design.
• Experienced in designing mechanical plant to meet client requirements and within budgetary and time constraints.
• Experienced in the use of design CAD software in particular the 3D parametric solid modelling package “Autodesk Inventor” to develop mechanical designs.
• Extensive knowledge of finite element analysis and in particular, the use of Algor (Autodesk MPS).

Key Skills Required:

• Demonstrate the ability to create designs to an acceptable quality within normal commercial constraints.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate with clients, suppliers, peers and subordinates and work as part of a team.
